Update from the Sustainability Committee About Recycling
Hi to all our Ski and Racquet neighbors! This is Margie Wood CG2 writing to you today on behalf of the Sustainability Committee. As most of you know Summit County now has a mandatory Recycling Program. Overall here at Ski & Racquet we are doing really well. We still find plastic bags, trash, and even furnace air filters in the bin but overall good. The new dumpster enclosure is finished and we already had to get a bigger dumpster because we’ve been saving so much. GREAT JOB!!!
One thing I’d like to ask everyone to do is to keep your eyes open for anyone dumping trash in the recycling dumpsters or putting the recyclables in the dumpster in plastic bags. I’ve had to educate several people, and they have all been house keepers that don’t seem to know how it works. Please be sure that your management company or cleaning service is aware of the process. In the long run we will all save money if we get this right!
Some of our homeowners, Dave and Teresa, have kindly donated many small white waste bins that can be used in your units if you’d like one. They are behind the bar at the clubhouse so feel free to grab one. There are many other bin options of course so whatever you prefer.
Everyone who was at the annual meeting in person should have received a laminated copy of the poster outlining the basics on what can and cannot be recycled in our new Single Stream dumpster. Please hang these flyers (in Spanish and English) in a visible location in your unit near your bin. If there are no more laminated sheets with the white bins at the clubhouse I hope to pick some up this weekend. I will put them with the waste bins or am happy to deliver them to your unit. Just let me know.
The importance of everyone supporting this program is:
It’s the right thing to do for the environment and our beautiful mountains
It’s going to cost us a lot more money causing our dues to be increased more if we don’t
Recycling is different with different companies so a few things to take note of:
NO PLASTIC BAGS!!! (Items MUST be dumped out of any bags since the bags get caught in the equipment).
NO GLASS: (The glass breaks into little pieces and contaminates the cardboard and paper). There […]
